Tour No 3: Herzogenaurach, the City of Sports
Herzogenaurach was founded in the 13th century as a centre for trades and handcrafts. It has been a centre of prosperous, dynamic development ever since, and businesses thrive in and around town, especially businesses in the area of sports. Herzogenaurach is the birthplace and home of two world famous sporting goods giants, Addidas and Puma, founded by the Dassler brothers, Adolf and Rudolf, in 1948. The headquarters of the two firms are maintained in the town, which also maintains the headquarters of the Schaeffler Group, major supplier of rolling element bearings for automotive, aerospace and other industries. Regardless the modern facilities and commercial development, Herzogenaurach maintains the feel of a medieval town. Many lovely restorations have been performed to preserve the local Franconian style and one can admire the local architecture of the beautiful half-timbered houses.
Join us in our guided city tour to experience and learn about this unique city, as well as to best experience the shopping visit to the Addidas and Puma factory outlets in town. Tour No 4: Nürnberg National Museum and Toy Museum
Germanische Nationalmuseum is the largest German cultural museum. In
the former imperial city of Nurnberg, take an exciting trip through the
cultural history of German-speaking Central Europe, from Neolithic to
modern days. The exceptional range of hosted pieces (1.3 million) and
their uniqueness is fascinating: a 3000-year-old golden headdress of a
Bronze Age priest, the golden armlet or "armilla" of Emperor
Barbarossa, and Martin Behaim's famous Earth-Globe, the earliest surviving
depiction of the Earth as a sphere, are a very few exceptional examples.
The greatest Northern Renaissance artist, Albrecht Durer of Nurnberg, is
represented in the museum through paintings and other baroque works,
together with other masters of all times, from baroque to contemporary.
The imposing suits of armor in the historical weapons and armor collection
are some other highlights.
Wednesday, 11th of May, 2011: Departure from the Maritim Hotel 10:00, duration about 3:30 hours Minimum number of attendees: 20

Tour No 5: Discover Nuernberg
Experience the medieval flair and modernism of our home city. Walk through the old Franconian metropolis, a unique and harmonious combination of historical buildings and modern architecture.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant history of our former imperial city. The following are few of the points of attraction that the tour will give the opportunity to experience together: The Imperial Castle, historically and architecturally one of the most important fortresses in Europe, stands high above the city as symbol of Nürnberg. Under the motto "Back to Dürer", Albrecht Dürer's memorial house reveals the artist's and mathematician's residence and workshop. The Beautiful Fountain, erected between 1389 and 1396 by Heinrich Beheim, is Nürnberg's star attraction with its high stone pyramid, growing like a gothic spear. The gothic St. Laurence Church (St. Lorenz Kirche), built between 1243 and 1315 and restored after 1945, is one of Nürnberg's representative attractions. The 13th Century St. Sebald Church, in Romanesque style, is another historical church located inside the city walls. One of the best preserved examples of medieval tower houses is the Nassau House, also known as the red sandstone castle. The city tour will conclude with a typical Franconian dinner in a historic restaurant for which reservations have been placed. The dinner cost, including drinks, is around 30 € per person, depending on the menu you order. Tuesday, 10th of May, 2011: Departure from the Maritim Hotel 6:00 PM, duration about 4:00 hours Minimum number of attendees: 20
